Rosyln Retreat Center

I’ve attended two writing weekends at Revel Retreats in Roslyn and my experience was made so much richer and meaningful because of the care and well-designed space that the women at Revel have created in this amazing facility. Everything was taken care of—from the comfortable accommodations and amazing food—and it made for a true getaway where all I had to do was focus on the main reason I was there: creative immersion.

In addition to the comfortable private and shared rooms—the common spaces were also furnished with a variety of seating and lounging areas that made both gathering together for meals or writing alone in one of the comfy chairs the perfect combination of communal sharing and individual space. A large picture window provided an amazing view of the surrounding wilderness.

And the food! It’s not your ordinary fare—wholesome, organic food is lovingly prepared and served at each mealtime, and the snacks and beverages included something for every taste. The proprietors were more than willing to accommodate special dietary requests and did everything they could to make the meals as amazing as the home itself.

One of the special treats was starting each day with stretching and meditation in their beautiful yoga studio, which is warm and inviting. Fully equipped with everything we needed, it was a wonderful way to get the day off to an amazing start.

If you are looking for a beautiful, rustic cabin-like setting in the woods for your next gathering, I would highly recommend letting Revel Retreats create the perfect getaway for your group.

My daughter and I were able to experience a new level of yoga [and] meet other [like-minded] women. Having the chance to leave the outside filters and share insights with each other and [with] others was a complete delight. The studio is a [standalone] building which allows you to leave your current state of mind and enter the door to rebuild and connect with yourself. The living space is perfect for a large group to mingle in smaller groups or all together in front of the fire.

Costa Rica retreat

As a first timer to Costa Rica, my expectations were simple: to see a monkey, toucan and turtle in the wild would make my trip. Little did I know I would see monkey’s almost daily, be awaken by howling monkeys at sunrise (spectacular), see toucans and other amazing birds, sloths, turtles laying eggs and the list goes on. Exploring the diversity of rainforests and climates was spectacular. The itinerary for the trip was great for a small group. I did not feel like a tourist, more like an explorer! Loved the trip and look forward to going again!

I went on the Parsons trip to Costa Rica in March 2016 and it was truly an life changing experience!! The itinerary gave us a full picture of the landscape, wildlife and culture of Costa Rica. This experience was enriched by our amazing guide Inti!! He was able to completely immerse us in the wildlife- waking up to howler monkeys, finding rare birds and sloths and mimicking bird calls. The most remarkable experience was with the turtles- to watch a massive leatherback lay eggs, complete her ritual and amble back into the ocean in the darkness of night was stunning! We visited an organic farm, a cacao plantation and learned about the history and culture of the region in many different ways. Each place we stayed was unique and the group became like a family travelling together! I loved this entire experience and would highly recommend it!!

My daughter had an amazing experience. When she was talking about taking botany this year in school, she said that Costa Rica boosted her interest more in plants because of her experience seeing such an array of plant life on her trip. It inspired her so much. That is invaluable!
